Learn about and give feedback on the City of La Crosse's new downtown plan through a virtual open house.
Virtual and in-person open houses for the proposed Imagine 2040 La Crosse Downtown Plan have been launched.
The Open House Gallery started this month and will run through April at the La Crosse Public Library (800 Main Street) and online at www.IMAGINEDOWNTOWNLACROSSE.com. Participants can tour exhibits at their leisure and provide comments about the plan’s emerging recommendations before advancing to publication.
The City of La Crosse and Downtown Mainstreet, Inc. initiated an update to the city’s downtown plan, called Imagine 2040 in Spring 2020. The plan identifies initiatives for the next 20 years for the downtown area and covers many subjects, including future development, mobility, placemaking, environmental sustainability, and neighborhood housing.
Preparation of the revised plan was led by a steering committee of local residents, business owners, and city and downtown leaders through a participatory process. While hundreds of people have contributed to the planning process, the steering committee looks forward to the community’s feedback, both online and onsite, to inform them on the priorities for the continued revitalization of downtown.
The final publication will be assembled in May 2021, wrapping up a year’s commitment of effort, before proceeding to the final approval process.
