Rates and FAQs



Applicant should be ambulatory, in relatively good physical and mental health and able to tend to their own personal and safety needs. An appointment can be arranged for a tour of apartments and the Carroll Heights facility. Application should be made by completing and submitting the Application Form. The form must be returned to the Housing Manager for review and placement on the wait list. We do a criminal background and credit check on all applicants. A copy of your driver's license will be kept on file and will be asked for at the time of application.

Question: What exactly is the Emergency Call Cord?
Answer: There is a pull cord in each bathroom at Carroll Heights which acts as a BUDDY system. It will sound a bell on the floor you are on along with a light that will turn on above your apt door. Other tenants will see that you need help and call 9-1-1 or call Hillview. A Hillview nurse will also call 9-1-1 as they are not able to perform any medical care. They will stay with you and comfort you until help arrives.

Question: How much is the washer and dryers and where are they located?
Answer: There is a washer and dryer on every floor which are centrally located by the elevator and floor lobby. The cost for the washer is .75 and dryer is .50 They are used on a first come first serve basis.

Questions: How is rent decided and how often is the rent raised?
Answer: The rent for each apartment is based on the square footage. They are not subsidized. The rent is adjusted annually.

Question: What if I would like to eat at night or on the weekends?
Answer: You may order a guest tray from the front desk at Hillview which costs $8.00 a meal. These meals are available for breakfast, lunch or supper. Holiday meals would need to be pre-ordered through the Hillview receptionist and are $11.00/meal.

Question: Where is the Wellness Center and what is the purpose?
Answer: First floor towards the soda machine, we have a room (Wellness Center) where we are lucky to have Sig, a retired volunteer nurse who comes every Tuesday at 10:00 to do blood pressure checks. This is a free service to you. She is also available for other health related questions.

Question: What does grocery transportation mean and how much does it cost?
Answer: This is a FREE service. Festival sends a school bus each Wednesday to take tenants grocery shopping at Festival Foods.

Just a reminder that all tenants are able to utilize the larger group activities offered at Hillview such as the church services, music, bingo and beauty/barber shop (additional charge). Sorry, not the outings or special meals. Please ask if you have any further questions!!
