Hillview Building

Hillview Health Care Center is a 60-bed skilled nursing health care facility owned and operated by La Crosse County.  Hillview primarily focuses on those in need of rehabilitation and short stay care needs.  The Oaks is a 10 bed State Only nursing facility within Hillview serving those who have a diagnosis of dementia with underlying behavioral needs.  Please see The Oaks tab for more information.  

The residents and their families are our best ambassadors to the La Crosse community. With the help of these ambassadors, we have established a reputation on our campus for providing quality and compassionate care. Our staff take pride in building warm, trusting relationships with residents and families. We have the capacity to take care of those with higher needs, yet we don't lose sight of the importance and need to offer respect, emotional support and compassion.

The residents rate the food and social opportunities as outstanding. During the summer, many families and residents take advantage of our beautiful setting and enjoy our outside walking paths. Deer, ducks, geese, and many other animals are found on our campus.

Greetings from our Campus Administrator

We look forward to 2024, anticipating many positive changes within our home. Our planning process is underway for renovating our home. We look forward to a more home like feel, all private rooms and a variety of service needs so people can age in place on our campus.

A new Intergenerational Day Programming Center serving adults and children overseen by outside providers will be within the Hillview building along with 10 beds of Supportive housing, overseen by La Crosse County Human Services.

All meetings will be 3:30-4:30 Dining Room at Hillview.

January 2024 update:

We are completing the Schematic Design phase of our project and into design documents.  Many behind the scenes work has been happening since our last meeting.  Civil Engineering, along with plumbing and electrical have been meeting regularly.  You will see new ground markings outside.  Being reviewed are the outdoor elevations (topo), site grading, drainage (storm/sewer and utility works), landscaping and site restoration along with parking, drives, patios and sidewalks.  

We have conducted testing for asbestos as well as air quality to help guide us in our future work and provide the safest environment for those who live and work in our home.  

Design considerations:  Separate entrance for the CBRF will be off the 100 hallway.  We are looking at location of supply rooms, medication rooms etc. to assist with staff efficiencies. Location of common space, living areas, spa, etc.  Storage of lifts, batteries, and electric wheelchairs.  Considerations into what areas will need badge access.  Outdoor space for each service and access to these spaces.  I will keep a DRAFT floor plan at the front desk cart for your viewing and updates as they occur.
