The approval of minutes was not done because there was no quorum present.

HOME HEALTH CARE UPDATE

Doug discussed some background information on the County’s Home Health Care Program and distributed their annual report.  Services provided by the home health care program include R.N. services, Home Health Nursing services, Home Health Aide services, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy in the home, plus the coordination of personal services.  There are 10-12 employees involved in the delivery of these services, including R.N.’s, home health aides, a medical technologist, and clerical staff. On average, they generally serve 42-56 clients through the course of a year.

MANAGED CARE ORGANIZATION UPDATE

Tim Garrity, the new Executive Director of Western Wisconsin Cares, gave an update on the MCO.   With a target date of October 1st, the MCO will become a separate entity, along with 7 other counties (Pepin, Clark, Trempealeau, Jackson, Buffalo, Vernon, Monroe)   In addition to Tim as the Executive Director, the Management Team has been hired, including a CFO, Human Resources Director and an IT Manager.  One of the challenges is the transition of staff, and trying to retain the current CMO employees.  The plan is to roll in one county a month, starting in October (with La Crosse).  The State has a comprehensive certification packet for each of the sites that needs to be approved. In addition to La Crosse the other four sites are Alma, Whitehall, Neillsville and Tomah.

MISSISSIPPI VALLEY HEALTH SERVICES UPDATE

Ten surrounding counties have joined La Crosse County to form the Mississippi Valley Health Services (MVHS).  Several different entities from outside the County had been using Lakeview as their primary source for their health purposes, with La Crosse County paying the total bill, so this was a way to get back some of the money being lost.  So far this year we have billed out $685,122

and have received payment as of June 4th of $502,355, so it has proven to be a very positive undertaking for Lakeview.  Also, many referrals have been coming in.  The biggest challenge will be finding a way to admit the newly formed MCO’s into the MVHS.
