The Need for an addition to the La Crosse County Law Enforcement Center

Since opening the Law Enforcement Center in 1997, the County has operated three separate jail facilities: the Main Jail housing male inmates, the old Jail for housing female inmates and a Huber (work release) facility.   Over these past nine years, the County has made significant investments in Justice Sanctions programs like Day Reporting and Electronic Monitoring to reduce the need for additional jail beds.  As a result, the County has closed the Huber facility and placed low risk inmates in the community with supervision.  La Crosse County needs to consolidate operations for greater efficiency, safety and effectiveness for the long-term future.
