AODA The Intoxicated Driver Program is administered under the Clinical Services Section of Human Services. Individuals convicted of operating while intoxicated (OWI) and related offenses, as well as those referred by the Department of Transportation, are required to be assessed by this agency. The cost of the OWI assessment is currently $328 and must be paid at the time the appointment is made. Payments can be made by cash or check if you are making the payment in person. You also can pay the assessment fee by credit/debit card. The toll-free number is 888-604-7888. You can also pay online at www.governmentpayment.com. You must enter Pay Location Code 5453 to have your payment processed correctly. Government Payment Service will charge you a convenience fee for this service, 4.75% for phone payments and 3.5% for online payments. Once you complete the transaction, you can call our office at (608)785-6101 to schedule your intoxicated driving assessment. An assessment is completed by a certified counselor and a driver’s safety plan is developed, which outlines the requirements to maintain a valid driver’s license. Recommendations can include a variety of interventions including education, individual or group outpatient treatment, residential and inpatient treatment and self help groups. These services are provided by various community AODA programs that are contracted by La Crosse County. The driver’s safety plan is to be completed within one year. Substance abuse assessments are provided to other court ordered consumers as well as any La Crosse County resident seeking assistance related to their substance use. An assessment appointment can be scheduled with an AODA counselor by calling 785-6101. An assessment consists of gathering information related to substance use, family, legal, mental and physical health, education and work history as well as any prior treatment. At times collateral information is gathered to assist in making treatment recommendation. Substance abuse treatment funding for La Crosse County residents is available on a sliding fee scale through La Crosse County Clinical Services to those without medical insurance. This assistance can be accessed by first setting up a funding appointment with an AODA counselor. They will help determine the level of treatment needed and make the appropriate referrals. Fiscal staff will obtain the appropriate financial information to determine the level of financial responsibility. |
