Economic Assistance
La Crosse County will assist in any way
possible to help you find a development package that meets the needs of
your company. If you have a project that needs assistance, please
contact County staff listed on the bottom of this page. Below is a
list of assistance programs that may be available. We also
encourage you to look at the "Useful Links" page for links to State and
Federal Agencies that may have other forms of assistance available.
Revolving Loan Funds
Business lending is
another economic development activity we are involved in. Business
loans are through revolving loan funds (RLFs) made possible through
Federal grants from the Economic Development Administration and the
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. All RLF business loans
are in conjunction with bank financing and have favorable terms and
conditions that allow a business expansion to proceed that under most
other conditions would not. The loans are awarded to businesses based on
the number of jobs created or retained and other economic development
criteria. The revolving loan funds are designed to foster
entrepreneurialism and provide the Region’s residents with a better
opportunity to live the American dream of starting their own business.
Business Tax Credits
Another form of
business financial assistance we provide is administrating and providing
technical assistance for the Western Wisconsin Technology Zone. We
assist in determining business eligibility and providing technical
assistance to businesses in preparing applications for this program. Tax
credits totaling $5 million have been allocated to counties in the
Western Wisconsin Technology Zone. The MRRPC played an instrumental
role in developing the applications that led to the designation of this
business tax credit zone that was established for the purpose of
stimulating high technology in La Crosse County and State of Wisconsin.
